Entry for the 2013 ISTD competition brief titled ‘sound bites’. Inspired by my housemate’s repetition of the phrase ‘I speak the Queens’ as a mockery of my Swindonian accent. The book incorporates transcribed conversations from the British Library, and although the two groups I focused on came from the same area they had very different backrounds, something I wanted to illustrate through this publication, the narrative follows the disintegration of QES (The Queens English Society) and it’s chairman Bernard Lamb.
